Urban Environment
Currently my project is veering towards tracks, like the tracks people make on footpaths when it snows, I am trying to make these tracks/footprints visible without the snow, by printing soles of shoes walking, in bus queues etc. I made a mould of shoe sole using wax and poured latex in to get another mould. I printed the negative space of a shoe sole using flour, then rice and then cut out shoe soles in cardboard placed on paper and spray painted the sheet. I took loads of photos of shoes hanging on the clothes line from underneat with the sky in the background which was cool, also took photos of shoes turned upside down on pepples using sepia mode on camera and this was quite effective. I gathered loose tar and chips from the side of the road, made a square frame using cardboard and lollipop sticks, put the tar/chips in and poured loads of pva glue over them, (I framed the gound) one could say the ground cant be framed but we do live on an island, maybe the frame shouldnt be square. I also printed using repeat pattern onto fabric to see how the shoe print would change with the fall of the fabric.
